ACCREDITED TAX ADVISOR Issued by the Accreditation Council for Accountancy and Taxation (ACAT), the ATA designation is conferred to professionals who handle sophisticated tax planning issues, including ownership of closely held businesses, qualified retirement plans and complicated estates. Applicants must also meet the requirement of 5 years of work experience in tax preparation, compliance, tax planning, and consulting of which 40% must be in tax planning and consulting. ACCREDITED TAX PREPARER Issued by the Accreditation Council for Accountancy and Taxation (ACAT), the ATP designation is conferred to professionals who have a thorough knowledge behind the existing tax code & tax preparation of individuals, corporate, and partnership tax returns.
